Rumor: Apple Adds 3 China Retailers for iPhone Distribution

Netease Tech, 12/10/10

According to an industry distributor, Apple has awarded China distribution rights for iPhone products to three Chinese retailers: ECS Technology, Beijing Founder Century Information System, and Changhong IT Information Products. ECS and Changhong IT Information Products are already licensed distributors for iPad products. According to the source, while the three firms have been named authorized dealers, details of supplies and sales are still under negotiation.

In China, iPhones are currently available only in Apple stores or through China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) and Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning (002024.SZ) channels.
