125 Chinese Cable Operators to Enjoy 3-Year Tax Exemption

China's Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation have jointly issued an announcement granting tax exemption to 125 cable network companies operating in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Huhan, Sichuan, and Yunnan Provinces, and the cities of Shenzhen and Chongqing. The exemptions apply to business taxes on all revenues derived from basic subscription fees for digital cable television service for the 3-year period beginning retroactively from January 1, 2010. Beneficiaries of the exemption include China Cable Network, Anhui Radio & Television Information Network and numerous local television stations and cable network operators.
