Qihoo 360 Unveils Open Platform Strategy

Chinese online security software developer Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) unveiled its new 360° Open Plan during its first annual Internet Developers Summit in Beijing today. The 360° Open platform will include Qihoo 360's 360 Desktop, 360 Software Manager, 360 Safe Browser, the browser app store for the 360 Chromium Browser, Qihoo 360's group buy open platform (tuan.360.cn), and the Qihoo 360 Web Game Center (wan.360.cn), all of which Qihoo 360 has opened to its partners. The 360 Desktop application will serve as an interface to the other services.
The 360° Open platform will also adopt four strategies to support the company's partners:
1) Providing free, standardized API access and promotions for partners.
2) Committing to offering the most competitive revenue share of any browser game operator.
3) Establishing a developer rewards fund of up to RMB 100 mln to encourage individual developers.
4) Establishing a RMB 1 bln 360° Application Innovation Fund to invest in innovative new startups.
Qihoo 360 announced that more than two months after the beta release of the 360 Desktop application, the application now has over 10 mln users.
