Foxconn to Use 300,000 Robots in 2012

During a factory employee award ceremony in Shenzhen this weekend, Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) chairman Terry Gou announced 30,000 robots capable of handling 1,000 units per day will come online in 2012. The robots will be to handle dangerous basic tasks, increasing automation throughout the company and raising manufacturing output.

Gou said that the introduction of robots will not affect current employees, promising that despite the economic situation in 2012, "Foxconn will not be firing anyone next year."
