Tencent Tech, 2/14/12

According to new figures released recently by market research firm IDC, HP held 5.3% of the PC market in China in Q4 2011, placing fifth in the country. The top four firms in China's PC market during this time were Lenovo (0992.HK), Acer (2353.TW), Dell and Asus (LSE: ASKD; 2357.TW), which held respective market shares of 35.5%, 9.5%, 9.4% and 5.7%

According to one industry source, HP's share of the PC market had dropped to 8.5% by the end of Q2 2011, making it a secondary brand. Following Thailand's recovery from severe floods which began in summer 2011, the source said, demand for DIY customizable PC products will also bounce back and HP's share of the market will fall below 5%.
