Linktone Records Q4 2011 Net Profit of USD 89K

Chinese wireless value-added service provider Linktone (Nasdaq: LTON) has announced its unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2011. Net revenue for the quarter rose 0.6% YoY to USD 15.69 mln. Net revenue for the year decreased 15.1% to USD 59.09 mln.
Net profit for Q4 2011 reached USD 88,848, compared to a net loss of USD 1.39 mln in the same period last year. Net profit for the full year reached USD 5.26 mln compared to a net loss of USD 578,725 in 2010.
Data-related services revenue in Q4 2011 accounted for 45% of gross revenues, or USD 7.3 mln, down 6% QoQ. The QoQ decline was primarily due to a decline in SMS revenue from Linktone's Indonesian operations, related to more stringent restrictions imposed by the Indonesian regulators.
The shift in Q4 2011 revenue mix was primarily related to an increase in media content sales in Singapore, partially offset by a decline in IVR revenue from audio-related services in China and VAS data-related revenue in Indonesia.
Data-related services breakdowns for Q4 2011 are as follows:
SMS revenues decreased 19% QoQ, primarily due to a USD 1.9 mln decline in SMS revenue from Linktone's Indonesia operations. This was partially offset by a USD 0.5 mln increase in SMS revenue generated by Linktone's operations in China.
MMS revenues recreased slightly from USD 0.9 mln in Q3 2011 to USD 0.8 mln in Q4 2011.
WAP and JAVA revenue was USD 0.6 mln, up from USD 0.5 mln in Q3 2011.
Media content revenue increased 56% QoQ to USD 6.1 mln for Q4 2011. The QoQ revenue growth was due to a realization of deferred revenue.
Mobile games revenue was RMB 0.7 mln, unchanged from Q3 2011.
PC games revenue was USD 0.5 mln, up from USD 0.3 mln in Q3 2011.
Audio-related services revenue in Q4 2011 accounted for 10% of gross revenue, or USD 1.6 mln, a 47% decline from Q3 2011. The company's audio-related services revenue in Q3 2011 was driven by a seasonal increase in IVR revenue during the summer school holidays in China.

Interactive Voice Response services (IVR) Q4 2011 revenue was USD 1.0 mln, down deom USD 2.2 mln in Q3 2011.
Color Ring-Back Tones (CRBT) Q4 2011 revenue was USD 0.6 mln, down from USD 0.8 mln in Q3 2011.
For Q1 2012 ending March 31, 2012, Linktone anticipates gross revenues to be in the range of USD 11 mln to USD 13 mln.
