Rakuten to Close Lekutian in Late May

Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten today announced that it will shut down its B2C e-commerce joint venture with Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), Lekutian (Rakuten.com.cn), in late May.

A Rakuten spokesperson stated that it is shutting down Lekutian due to dismal sales.

Editor's Note: According to a Sohu IT report, Chairman and CEO of Lekutian, Jiang Kaoyu, today announced that, after much consideration from the management team, Lekutian will stop its customer service on April 27.
