Rumor: Tencent VP, Soso GM Resign

TechWeb, 6/15/12

Today an industry source has revealed that Chinese internet giant Tencent's (0700.HK) Soso search engine has undergone major personnel adjustments, with Tencent VP Wu Jun and Tencent Soso general manager Sun Liang both handing in their resignations. Tencent has not yet commented on the development.

Guo Ang, vice president of search technology at B2B vertical search engine Makepolo.com, today wrote on his microblog, "Rumors of major adjustments at Soso; Wu Jun, Sun Liang resign." Following the posting, the certified account of Soso software development engineer "Xia Xia" replied, "You're well-informed," implying that the rumor is true.

Several other microblog postings have since confirmed the rumor of Wu Jun's resignation.

Wu Jun joined Google in 2002, and left the company in 2010 to join Tencent, where he held the position of VP of search.
