Suning.com to Expand Open Platform Beyond 3C

Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning's (002024.SZ) e-commerce site, Suning.com, has announced it will expand its open platform in a nationwide campaign beginning in early July with a focus on non-consumer electronics products.

Suning.com will mainly seek to attract general merchandise, book, and 3C accessory vendors, and will expand beyond consumer electronics to various areas including general merchandise, financial, and virtual services. The company recently launched an online merchant registration channel.

Suning.com executive VP Li Bin said that open platform brands will only be required to stock and maintain items before sale, while Suning.com will handle payment, delivery, after-sales service, and invoicing.

Suning currently has over 100 distribution centers nationwide, along with a fleet of 5,000 delivery vehicles and over 30,000 logistics personnel.
