Rumor: Ctrip Acquires Mobile Flight Tracking App Developer

Sohu IT, 6/26/12

An industry source has revealed that Chinese online travel services firm Ctrip (Nasdaq: CTRP) has completed acquisition of Chinese rival site Feeyo, developer of the Feichang Zhun travel and flight tracker app. The deal, valued at approximately RMB 20 mln, is rumored to have been completed at the beginning of this year.

Feichang Zhun is an app that helps air travelers track flights and predict flight schedule delays. Users can check all domestic airlines' realtime flight information and maps, learn in advance various conditions that might impact scheduled departures and arrivals, and receive realtime airline announcements.

Ctrip established an independent mobile division in February this year.

The industry source mentioned above also noted that Feichang Zhun's core value lies in its access to flight information, as this sort of information is typically made available to only a handful of firms.
