Rumor: Tencent Invests RMB 50 Mln in LeWa

In a recent blog posting, angel investor Wang Lijie revealed that LeWa Tek, a Shanghai-based Android ROM developer in which Wang had invested, had recently received RMB 50 mln in strategic investment from Tencent (0700.HK). LeWa Tek's third-party ROMs, which target RMB 1,000 Android smartphones, currently support the V880 and U880 from Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), as well as the Samsung S5830. The company currently has 300,000 active users.

As of press time, Tencent had not offered any comment on the report.
