Taobao Bundles Browser with Alitalk

Users of Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce site Taobao's Alitalk chat client today reported that the instant messaging software now comes bundled with Taobao's browser product.

Users installing Alitalk discovered an inconspicuous button on the third step of the installation process labeled "Taobao Browser Options," which lists two default selected checkboxes for "Install Taobao Browser" and "Create Taobao Shortcut." After installation, three programs are installed on the user's computer - Alitalk, Taobao Browser, and Etao.com's Ruyi comparison shopping tool, though no installation options are available for Ruyi.

Alibaba Group released Taobao Browser in April, followed by version 1.2 in July which features image search and the Ruyi tool. Taobao is currently aggressively promoting its new browser.
