Rumor: Vancl, Xiaomi May Develop Vancl-Branded Handset

Chinese B2C clothing website Vancl and handset developer Xiaomi are in discussions to jointly release a Vancl-branded handset, according to a source at Vancl. Xiaomi will design and manufacture the handset, which will feature the Vancl logo but Vancl will not be involved in hardware development. Plans are only at the discussion stage, however, and no commitments have been made. A Xiaomi PR representative denied any knowledge of such discussions.
Vancl has revealed that Xiaomi handset sales are responsible for generating 20% of daily new user registrations.
