Rumor: Xiaomi to Release 2nd-Gen Smartphone in August

Chinese smartphone developer Xiaomi reportedly plans to officially launch its second-generation smartphone on August 16. The RMB 1,999 phone will boat a 720p touchscreen and Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor. CEO Lei Jun said Xiaomi is also in talks with Microsoft about supporting Windows Phone and Android, which has led to industry speculation that Xiaomi plains to release a Windows Phone 8 version of its 2nd-gen handset.
