Guangdong Issues First Business License to Taobao Merchant

Ebrun, 7/26/12

A Zhaoqing-based merchant on Chinese C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao has received the first business license from the Guangzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce (GAIC) in accordance with Guangdong's "Recommendations for Encouraging the Healthy Development of Guangdong's E-Commerce and Related Services." The Guangdong Local Taxation Bureau and GAIC have coordinated to provide tax breaks to licensed companies.

The new policy relaxes restrictions on office locations, which now can be in the merchant's residence, as well as restrictions on company names, allowing the use of neologisms, industry terminology, and Arabic numerals (I.e. 1, 2, 3).
