Tencent Tech, 7/31/12

China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) Beijing branch recently released its first time-based billing plan for 3G data cards. Under the new plan, late-night use of 3G data cards will be billed at considerably less than daytime rates. Beijing Telecom's new "Yeguang Ka" ("Moonlight Card") plans come in two tiers: an RMB 45 per month plan - offering rates of RMB 0.08 per minute between 6 AM and 11:59 PM, and RMB 0.004 per minute from midnight to 5:59 AM - and an RMB 20 per month plan, billed at RMB 0.11 per minute from 6 AM to 11:59 PM, and RMB 0.006 per minute from midnight to 5:59 AM. The RMB 45 plan offers 188 hours per month of late-night internet usage; the RMB 20 plan, roughly 56 hours.

Beijing Telecom's standard 3G data rates are RMB 0.1 per minute at present.
