CNTV Loses New Media Distribution Rights for 3,500 CCTV Programs

Lmtw.com, 8/01/12

Bao Ran, director of the China Interactive Media Industry Alliance's digital cultural industry workgroup, revealed in a July 31 microblog posting that China Central Television (CCTV) recently issued an internal memorandum transferring new media distribution rights for 3,568 CCTV programs from its national online TV station CNTV to China Broadcasting Satellite. China Broadcasting Satellite will manage the rights to all of the programs moving forward.

CNTV lost IPTV and other new media distribution and transmission rights to the 3,568 CCTV programs in June, decreasing its advantage over competitors in the area of IPTV service content.
