Vancl Outsources Manufacturing to Bangladesh

Ebrun, 8/06/12

Liu Hao, deputy GM of Chinese apparel B2C e-commerce platform Vancl's first production facility, has disclosed that Vancl has outsourced manufacturing of its shirt products to a Bangladeshi firm since last year. Bangladesh-based manufacturers are able to produce high-quality shirts, slacks, and wool garments for approximately 30% less than their mainland China counterparts.

Liu added that Vancl plans to reduce its suppliers from 200 to over 100 this year. Vancl requires suppliers to produce garments with no more than 0.2 mm of residue metals from raw materials or intermediary manufacturing materials, immediately ending their partnership if suppliers fail to meet this standard.
