Giant to Upgrade Gamers' Broadband Speeds

Beijing Morning Post, 8/13/12

Chinese online game developer and operator Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) will promote its new licensed 3D MMORPG Allods Online by offering to cover the cost of broadband upgrades for gamers.

Wang Chunye, a spokesperson for Giant's Allods Online product team, declined to reveal the promotional budget, but a source close to the project estimated that the company would foot the bill for more than 50,000 gamers, at an average cost of RMB 300 to 500 per gamer per year, resulting in total costs that the source estimated to be in excess of RMB 10 mln.
