Rumor: Mobotap Lands USD 10 Mln in Funding

iFeng Tech, 9/04/12

MoboTap, developer of the mobile browser Dolphin Browser, recently revealed on its website that it will soon announce a new round of funding, which, according to an industry source, could reach USD 10 mln and is reportedly led by Qualcomm. There are 60 mln users of the Dolphin Browser at present. MoboTap has opened API ports to third-party developers, enabling developers to connect Dropbox, Evernote, Pocket, Wikipedia, and other web apps to the browser free of charge. The company has no plans to implement a revenue-sharing model with third-party developers.

The first version of the browser was released for Android in March 2010. MoboTap announced its first, eight-figure USD round of funding on July 19, 2011, from VCs including Sequoia Capital and Matrix Partners China.
