iFeng Tech, 9/07/12

Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer Huawei announced today that it will participate in a US House of Representatives Committee on Intelligence hearing addressing concerns over security threats posed by Huawei and that the company is currently discussing the conditions under which it would participate. The committee will hold a public hearing on September 13 addressing whether or not the Chinese telecom industry poses a threat to US national security. Huawei was invited by the committee to participate.

According to Huawei's Washington spokesperson William Plummer, Huawei representatives will be attending the hearing as long as the two sides reach an agreement about the conditions of Huawei's participation. Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) announced on August 29 that the company would also be attending.

The Committee on Intelligence has yet to release a list of hearing participants.
