Xiaomi Sells RMB 235 Mln in 1S Phones on Alipay

Li Moqiang, VP of Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi, recently disclosed that 150,000 Xiaomi 1S smartphones had been purchased using third-party payment provider Alipay with total sales reaching RMB 235 mln. Xiaomi sold out its entire second batch of 200,000 Xiaomi 1S handsets in nine minutes on September 6, with payment received for 150,000 units via Alipay within 12 hours. The latest batch consisted of 150,000 WCDMA China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) operator-customized units and 50,000 CDMA2000 EV-DO handsets customized for China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK).
