China to Develop 12 New IPTV Standards by Year-end

At a recent IPTV conference in Beijing, China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) Research Institute chief engineer Jiang Lintao said that China has published six IPTV standards to date, and will add another 12 standard specifications by the end of the year. In total, Jiang revealed, China will publish 60 to 70 guiding specifications, with the goal of covering as fully as possible areas including IPTV market requirements, systems frameworks, set-top boxes, interface ports, network access requirements, and middleware.
