Free Public Wi-Fi Available at 200 Beijing Tourist Spots by Year-End

Beijing Daily, 10/31/12

An Jinming, deputy director of the Beijing Tourism Administration, recently disclosed that free public Wi-Fi hotspots are being deployed at 200 A-level tourism destinations and 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels and will be accessible by the end of the year.

Many tourist spots currently offer Wi-Fi provided by China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) CMCC network. Travelers must obtain login credentials from China Mobile in order to use the service. The new network uses a simpler login procedure that does not require users to re-enter credentials but instead directly provides access. Wi-Fi network equipment is currently in the installation and debugging phase, and once completed visitors to Beijing will be able to use the service.
