Huango Mobile Mall App Reaches 4 Mln Pre-installations
Huxiu, 11/02/12
Lin Lechang, founder of Guangdong-based m-commerce platform Huango.cn, revealed recently that the company's mobile mall app has been pre-installed on nearly 4 mln handsets, driving nearly 60% of the site's total traffic. Transaction volumes have doubled year-on-year, reaching 80 mln. Lin also revealed that Huango had been actively engaged in talks with two major domestic handset brands about pre-installing Huango's m-commerce client and the lottery ticket client that the company released in September.
Huango's customer orders averaged RMB 400 each in 2011, Lin said. Sales promotions have since lowered that to RMB 380, but the average remains considerably higher than competitor C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao's roughly RMB 200 per-order average.
Huango has received RMB 20 mln in first-round investment, and has begun negotiations for a second round of financing. Rather than adopting a Taobao-like store model, Huango will open API ports, allowing merchants to upload images and product data to Huango and enabling Huango to pass customer orders on to merchants. The model allows Huango to lower management and operating costs to the greatest extent possible, and ensures that the site will not have to spend money on warehousing or logistics.
