Rumor: Alibaba to Issue USD 1 bln in Corporate Bonds

According to IFAasia, Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group is currently in discussions with several banks in anticipation of issuing approximately USD 1 bln in corporate bonds. The bonds are rumored to be a first step in an eventual IPO for the company.
Alibaba Group's recent share-buyback from Yahoo valued the company at around USD 40 bln.
