Shanghai Stock Exchange, 11/07/12

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Datang Telecom (600198.SH) announced today that it would invest RMB 617.02 mln from its private placement share issue in the following projects: RMB 90 mln in TD-SCDMA chips for the L1813 and 1812 smartphones; RMB 80 mln in investments directed towards R&D and industrialization of chips in high security smart cards for finance and other industries; RMB 30 mln to be invested in the development of the operating system for next-generation software-embedded smartphone chips; and RMB 417.2 to supplement daily expenses.

This year, Chinese TD-SCDMA chip maker Leadcore Technology, a subsidiary of Datang Telecom, released the L1810, a mid-range TD-SCDMA terminal smartphone chip. Although the above announcement did not detail specifications or technical parameters of the L1813 and 1812 smartphone chips, industry experts speculate they will be updated versions of the 1810 model.
