TCL Communication's October Handset Shipments Up 6% YoY

Chinese handset manufacturer TCL Communication Technology (2618.HK) today announced its unaudited shipment figures for handsets and other products for October 2012.

The company's total sales volume of handsets and other products reached 4,295,563 units in October 2012, up 6% YoY. Sales of smartphones and other smart devices rose 274% YoY to reach 763,609 units, comprising 18% of the company's total shipment. Sales of handsets and other products totaled 321,109 and 3,974,454 units in the PRC and overseas respectively.

Year-to-date sales of handsets and other products reached 33,464,388 units over the first ten months of 2012, down 3% YoY. Of these, 4,750,309 units were sold in the PRC market, a YoY increase of 44%, with 28,714,079 units sold overseas. Year-to-date sales of smartphones and other smart devices totaled 4,948,472 units, jumping 477% YoY.

In October TCL Communication unveiled its TCL S606 smartphone, the company's first Windows smartphone targeting the youth market.
