Sohu IT, 11/22/12
eBay released its "Foreign Trade E-Commerce Report for the Greater China Region" (unofficial translation) today, in which it reported that sales volumes for major eBay vendors and PayPal vendors grew by 93% and 48%, respectively, in Mainland China over the past year.
John Lin, CEO of eBay Greater China, revealed that the China market now ranks among eBay's top five global markets for trans-regional transaction volumes.
60% of major eBay vendors in Mainland China opt to use the US Postal Service's ePacket service to ship items to the United States. The service, which offers low-cost shipping for small items, processes an average of 100,000 US-bound packages per day from more than 40 Chinese cities.
When asked by reporters whether or not eBay plans to develop a Taobao-like e-commerce service within Mainland China, Lin said only that he was "doing his best" and "trying to think of strategies basically every month."
