Gome.com.cn Changes Name to Emphasize "Comprehensive" Focus

Zhang Bing, VP of Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome's (0493.HK) online mall Gome.com.cn, today disclosed that the site is changing its Chinese name from "Gome Appliances Online" to "Gome Online" as it expands to become a comprehensive B2C e-commerce platform to meet growing demand, and will cover all vertical product categories. Zhang, however, did not reveal details about the development of specific categories.

Gome Online's goal is to become one of the top three domestic e-commerce platforms, according to Zhang. "Gome Online aims to account for 15% of total sales volume across the Group in 2013," said Zhang."
