Baidu Partners with Government Service Websites

Chinanews.com, 12/05/12

Chinese internet firm Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) Open Data Platform recently initiated partnerships with various government service websites. Once government sites have joined the platform, Baidu will not only provide fast, accurate search results for relevant government services, which will display a "government service platform" tag, but some services will be instantly available through Baidu's Box Computing service. Baidu's open data platform already incorporates government services for 32 provincial-level cities and four municipalities, including services for national ID cards, passports, residence permits, "hukou" registration, birth certificates, unemployment benefits, temporary residence permits, and marriage licenses.
