China to Formulate New Cloud Computing Regulations

At the "2012 International Cloud Computing Conference" held in Beijing today, Chen Wei, head of the Department of Software Service Industry at China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), announced that the MIIT is working to formulate specific guidelines for cloud computing industry development, including a plan for national construction of internet data centers, in order to ensure information security. He also stated that the MIIT plans to initiate cloud-computing trials to establish a reference model to gauge the potential for over-investment and speculation in the cloud-computing market.
