China Mobile 2012 TD-SCDMA Terminal Sales to Reach 55 Mln Units

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) recently disclosed that the operator sold 42.59 mln TD-SCDMA handsets in the first ten months of 2012, and estimates its total TD-SCDMA terminal sales for the year will reach 55 mln.

Speaking at the 2012 China Mobile Global Developers Conference in Guangzhou, China Mobile president Li Yue said China Mobile will continue to increase smartphone subsidies in 2013 and has raised its 2013 domestic handset sales target from a previously announced figure of 100 mln units to between 150-200 mln units, with 50% of sales completed through third-party channels.
