Gaopeng, Ftuan Officially Merge Under Gaopeng Brand

In a joint announcement today, Chinese group buy sites Ftuan and Gaopeng, both operated by Beijing Wangluo Tianxia Shenghuo Technology (English name: Groupnet), and Tencent (0700.HK) group buy site QQ Tuan announced that beginning on January 15, 2013, Ftuan's domain name will resolve to Gaopeng, and links to Ftuan will automatically redirect to the Gaopeng homepage. At the same time, QQ Tuan's homepage will be redesigned, so as to unify visual branding with Gaopeng's homepage.
As of today, Ftuan's homepage will replace the Ftuan logo with the Gaopeng logo, and the QQ Tuan logo will add small text beneath the logo reading "Exclusively Operated by Gaopeng." A new Movies channel will launch on all three platforms as of the day the three sites merge. Groupnet CEO Lin Ning said that the company has inked deals with 87 cinemas in 45 cities around China, and will add the nationwide Stellar International Cineplex and Jackie Chan Cinema chains to its offerings in the future.
