Shanghai Online Gaming Market Up 31% YoY in 2011

According to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication's recently released 2011 Shanghai Game Publishing Industry Report, Shanghai's gaming industry's CAGR exceeded 30% from 2009 to 2011. Shanghai's online gaming market revenue rose 30.6% YoY to RMB 14.04 bln in 2011, accounting for 32.8% of total national revenue. As of late December 2012, Shanghai had 19.4 mln online gaming users, accounting for 16.2% of total users nationwide. Shanghai employed 38% of China's total online gaming developers in 2011.

The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication submitted 186 online games for approval to the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) in 2011, accounting for 50% of all submissions nationwide.
