Baidu Releases Photo Recognition Search

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has released a new "Baidu Photo Recognizer" (Baidu Shitu) image search tool.

The Baidu Photo Recognizer tools allows user to make search queries using photo uploads instead of text. Uploading photos of widely-recognizable celebrities, landscapes, or buildings onto Baidu Photo Recognizer will yield similar images, and even Baidu Baike encyclopedia entries, for the searched image. Searches for people, landscapes, or buildings that are not widely recognized will yield people, landscapes, or buildings that are similar to the image searched.
