Xiaomi Sells 7 Mln Smartphones in 2012

Li Wanqiang, co-founder and VP of Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi, has announced that the company sold 7.19 mln handsets in 2012. 2012 revenue from handset sales was RMB 12.6 bln, for average revenue of RMB 1,752 per handset. According to Li, Xiaomi does not plan to open any brick-and-mortal retail stores in the future.

70% of Xiaomi's 2012 handset sales originated from online sales channels, while 30% originated from operator sales channels.
