Lenovo May Acquire Research In Motion

Wong Wai Ming, CFO of Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK), revealed yesterday at Word Economic Forum meetings in Switzerland that the company was considering an acquisition of Canadian handset manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) to expand Lenovo's mobile business. According to Wong, Lenovo has a dedicated team investigating the matter, and has already discussed a number of possible areas of collaboration with RIM. Wong gave no time frame for a possible deal.
