Cyber Cloud to Establish Fund for Game Developers

DoNews, 1/25/13

Yang Weizhi, director of operations for China Digital TV Holding (NYSE: STV) subsidiary Cyber Cloud Technology, said today that Cyber Cloud will set up a fund to support small and medium-sized game developers this year.

Cyber Cloud currently partners with developers using a profit-sharing arrangement. After games that receive Cyber Cloud funding become profitable, developers will be required to repay a certain amount of game profits to the fund. Should the games not become profitable, the fund will bear a portion of the costs.

Cyber Cloud was established in 2011 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Beijing Novel-Super Digital TV Technology, itself a subsidiary of China Digital TV. In September 2012, Cyber Cloud signed an agreement with the Nanjing subsidiary of Jiangsu Broadcasting Cable Information Network to build a cloud gaming platform.
