CDB, Housing Ministry to Invest RMB 80 Bln in Smart Cities

China Business Times, 2/05/13

A spokesperson at China Development Bank stated recently that the bank will make a joint investment with the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) in the amount of RMB 80 bln for "Smart City" development. The investment will take place during the final three years of the 12th Five-Year Plan, from 2013 to 2015.

MOHURD previously announced China's "Smart City" test sites, which include 37 prefecture level cities, 50 districts (and counties), and 3 townships. The test cities will take about 3 to 5 years to be built, after which they will be evaluated by MOHURD.
