Rumor: Baidu Completes Acquisition of Mobile OS Developer Tapas

Sina Tech, 2/19/13

Sina Tech reported today that Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) completed its investment in the Innovation Works-incubated Android-based mobile OS developer Tapas earlier this month. Tapas will reportedly complete all necessary adjustments by the end of March. The arrangement between Baidu and Tapas will resemble its earlier relationships with its online travel services subsidiary Qunar and online video subsidiary iQiyi: Baidu will hold a controlling stake in Tapas, and will make changes to the board of the company and to Tapas' corporate structure, but Tapas will continue to operate independently.
