Rumor: Qihoo 360 Sets Keyword Minimum Bid at RMB 0.3

BiaNews, 3/15/13

According to an industry source, Chinese internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360's (NYSE: QIHU) So.com search engine has begun to solicit businesses to purchase ad space on the site through keyword bidding. Qihoo 360 has set the minimum bid price on So.com at RMB 0.3 per keyword, with higher bids accepted in increments of RMB 0.01. Customers who wish to advertise need to pay RMB 4,600 upfront to open an account. Of this, RMB 600 is a service fee, and RMB 4,000 will be set aside as credit for advertising fees. Fees apply when a user clicks on the customer's ad. Qihoo 360 does not accept customers who engage in medical advertising, do not have proper credentials, or who sell bus or train tickets.
