Baidu to Guarantee Users against Ad Fraud

Sootoo.com, 5/08/13

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has partnered with China's Ministry of Justice and the China Consumers' Association (CCA) to launch the "Netizen Rights Protection Plan" (unofficial translation). Users of Baidu's search engine who conduct online or offline transactions based on promotional material found on Baidu and are defrauded will be able to submit evidence to Baidu in order to receive up to RMB 5,000 in immediate compensation.

Baidu will offer internet users a "guarantee of transaction fairness." Should legitimate websites become embroiled in disputes between internet users and advertisers, Baidu will work with the Ministry of Justice and the CCA to help customers resolve civil disputes.

Baidu will also establish stricter review mechanisms for ads in the areas of medicine and medical treatment.
