Sootoo, 5/30/13
Chinese software developer and online entertainment provider Kingsoft (3888.HK) announced today that it has secured an exclusive license to the iOS game The Gods 3 for RMB 10 mln. The game, developed by Chengdu-based studio Calvi Games, is a 3D action RPG based on the ancient Chinese exploration record Shanhaijing ("Pathways Through Mountains and Seas"), and supports single-player and head-to-head online play. According to Kingsoft VP Chen Rui, Kingsoft's contract will last for three years. Kingsoft expects to launch the game this August.
The Gods 3 is a sequel to the earlier The Gods, whose name had been misreported in English-language media as The Gods 2.
The English edition of The Gods debuted in July 2012 from Chillingo. The game's domestic operator is Beijing-based mobile game distribution and mobile advertising firm Wiyun.
