Rumor: Amazon China to Give 40% Rev Share on E-Books

Jiang Tao, founder of Chinese software developer technology-sharing community CSDN, leaked the terms of Amazon's partnership with Kindle content suppliers today. Details of the contract are as follows:

1) Every issue of periodicals must be provided to Amazon as a standalone document file. (Amazon will provide publishers with file conversion tools.)

2) Amazon will take a 60% cut of each issue's price after taxes. Content providers will receive a 40% cut, payable monthly.

3) Amazon's content review team will review each magazine issue submitted. The review turnaround period is two weeks.

4) Companies seeking to publish electronic texts through Amazon must hold a digital content publishing permit.
