WeChat-Customized Wo SIM Pre-Orders Exceed 1 Mln

The "Weixin Wo" WeChat-customized SIM card, product of a collaboration between Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) and China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Guangdong subsidiary, has been released for pre-orders on Tencent's consumer electronics B2C e-commerce website 51buy.com. Pre-orders for the SIM card hit 100,000 one hour after release, and as of 4PM on August 6, had exceeded 1 mln.

The Weixin Wo SIM card has been released as part of China Unicom's RMB 66, RMB 96, and RMB 126 wireless packages, and comes pre-loaded with discounted calling credit for new users. The exact prices of the packages have not been announced.
