China's H1 Average Monthly Mobile Data Use Hits 123 MB Per User

China's average monthly mobile data usage per mobile Internet user reached 122.8 Mb in H1 2013, up 36.6% YoY, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The user base for mobile music and video, mobile gaming, and mobile literature increased 14.0%, 18.9%, and 28.7% from the end of 2012, respectively.
IT product and service revenue was RMB 2.07 trln in H1 2013, an increase of 20.7% YoY. Of this figure, revenue for the telecom industry reached RMB 564.26 bln, up 8.9% YoY. Revenue for software technology services (including software products, IT and consulting, data processing, and data storage services revenues) reached RMB 834.58 bln, an increase of 24.5% YoY. Revenue for information terminal products (including color TVs, set-top boxes (STBs), notebook computers, tablets, mobile handsets, and telecom systems equipment) reached RMB 616.8 bln, an increase of 28.7% YoY.
Sales of notebook computers, color TVs, and mobile handsets in H1 2013 reached 20.53 mln, 39.68 mln, and 244.44 mln units, respectively, up 9.1%, 35.6%, and 31.1% YoY.
China's online shopping market gross merchandise volume (GMV) reached RMB 855.9 bln in H1 2013, an increase of 60.2% YoY. This figure accounted for 7.7% of China's total retail sales volume for consumer goods. The online advertising market reached RMB 34.67 bln in H1 2013, an increase of 44.7% YoY. Automobile, clothing and travel advertising were the main forces driving this figure.
