Healthcare App Developer Spring Rain Wins Series B Funding

Zhang Rui, CEO of Beijing-based mobile app developer Spring Rain Software ("Chunyu Tianxia"), has announced that the company has received second-round funding led by Bertelsmann Asia Investments. Zhang did not disclose the amount of funding received in the deal. Chunyu Tianxia plans to kick off a third round of funding in mid-2014.
The company's mobile healthcare app, Spring Rain Palm Doctor ("Chunyu Zhangshang Yisheng"), boasts 12 mln cumulative registered users, as well as 5,000 registered doctors, and has a daily active user base of 400,000, according to Zhang. Spring Rain Palm Doctor will implement a localization strategy for the app starting in Qingdao, Changsha, and Guangdong, with the Qingdao version of the app to be released in mid to late August. Localized versions of Spring Rain Palm Doctor provide users with medical consultations, online appointment registration, local healthcare information, and local treatment services. The app will also collaborate with local yoga studios and gyms to provide offline fitness services.
