Sina Tech, 8/28/13
Beijing-based online game developer and operator Perfect World (Nasdaq: PWRD) has announced the company's global gaming platform, "Arc," at a press conference on browser game strategy held in Beijing with internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) and US-based game engine developer Unity Technologies. Perfect World's Arc platform will integrate Perfect World's accounts system, games, and news channel into a single platform to provide for standardized browser game releases. Qihoo 360's Web Game Center will provide support for browser games released on the platform, as well as receive exclusive first release rights to a number of games.
According to Perfect World CEO Robert Xiao, the Arc platform will simplify the process for online games to adapt to overseas markets, including multiple language releases, overseas currency, and overseas data collection and analysis support. The platform will be released for gamers and partners both in China and abroad.
Perfect World and Unity Technologies previously announced a partnership on black box testing for games using the Unity 3D game engine, including 3D dancing-themed online role-playing game Touch and 3D dark fantasy ARPG God of Destruction.
