China Mobile to Begin M2M SIM Card Commercial Trials

China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) machine-to-machine (M2M) subsidiary, China Mobile Internet of Things Co. (unofficial translation), disclosed recently that the company will launch commercial trials of its M2M SIM cards in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hebei, Fujian, and Chongqing from September 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014. Local China Mobile subsidiaries have completed the necessary preparation to support the project.

China Mobile's M2M SIM card service will facilitate interconnectivity of M2M enabled devices using the operator's communications network. The system currently utilizes 13-digit Internet of Things dedicated number strings with the 10648 prefix, as well as 11-digit dedicated number strings with the 14765 prefix.
